An Activated Update
A bit of an update for what I am doing over here and everywhere. The past couple of months I’ve had a lot of reactivation regarding cooking and what I have to offer that might be of value.
The long and the short of it is this: I feel like I can help you be more confident in the kitchen at home, and just enjoy your time there more. I have a LOT of experience cooking, at home and in professional kitchens, most of which were my own businesses. I also have a family and another job and feel really busy all the time. I want to cook healthy food for my family (even if all my kids want to eat is processed food) and be able to shop at the farmers market as much as I can. This takes STRATEGY, which is what I’ve been working on and am going to share. I am very TYPE B and I like it that way, and I have found systems and ways of cooking that have really supported me in the kitchen. I used to waste a ton of food, and I am happy to say that I really don’t anymore. Anyway, I know this sounds sales-pitchy which was not my intention. I’m not rolling out some elaborate course, but rather, I feel like I have found a new WHY for being here, that can just roll into what I have already been doing.
This will look like a few different series, mostly for paid subscribers (THANK YOU THANK YOU, I know I’ve been inconsistent) including how to buy produce and actually use it, how to manage your fridge, how to make meals that roll into other meals, making the most of leftovers, flexible food prep and more.
I’ve also been awkwardly experimenting with how to share some of these thoughts on my Instagram, which is very much a ‘we’ll see how this goes’ situation. It’s going to take me a minute to find what feels right or what works, I’m not good at planning so it’ll be a bit stop/start as I find time. I’m relieved to realize I’m no longer worried about looking silly or cool, I am just genuinely trying to figure out how to best communicate, which again, might take a minute.
…….
In another note, I have also been looking deeper at my WHY for making pottery, and realized that I just really love objects with vibe. We need them, especially as the world becomes more digitized, to feel real. The pieces we live with tell stories, and bring us back to ourselves. I’m leaning deeper into the flaws and mistakes in my work, and having each piece be totally unique, a world unto its self, a piece of art you get to live with and use everyday if you want to.
Here is a collection of photos from pieces in my own collection that I cherish, and that bring me grounding in my home space.
